The end of summer sales are winding down and it’s time to start building the fall wardrobe. Although many wardrobe staples can be worn at any time of year, like the LBD or dark denim jeans, there are certain items that should be swapped out for their cold weather alternatives. A light weight denim jacket was a loyal companion during chilly summer nights, but a heavier jacket is needed, like this leather moto jacket, as the temperature starts to drop. Nothing says “fall’ like plaid, so trade brightly printed floral tops and dresses for their counterparts in more muted tones. White skinny jeans were all the rage this summer, and although we aren’t strict followers of the “no white after Labor day” rule, we still think white jeans look best with summer brights rather than the richer colors of Fall. Swap them out for a pair of skinny jeans in jewel tones like maroon or evergreen. We love fit and flare dresses, but trade strapless corset numbers for a dress with long sleeves and a high neckline for the cooler weather. Store printed shorts for next spring and try a pair of leather shorts. Wear them with tights or high socks for more warmth and coverage.
