Just because the fall season is upon does not mean you need to put everything white in your closet into storage. We understand why the “no white after labor day’ rule came about, white clothes do look amazing against tan skin and bright summer colors, but don’t put your trusty LWD (little white dress) away just yet. Fall is all about layering, so layer some cold weather staples over (or under) your LWD and you’re in business! For a polished look for the office or a special occasion, wear a silk blouse under your dress and cinch the waist with a thin belt. This look is especially cute if the blouse has a collar that peeps over the dress. For a more casual weekend look, wear a crew neck sweater over your dress and voila! your dress is now a skirt. The trick here is to choose a sweater that has a collar high enough to cover the collar of the dress, but if that’s not the case wrap a scarf around your neck. For a more bohemian vibe that you could wear to a concert or bar, layer a denim shirt and a chunky over-sized cardigan over your LWD. This look can also work with a denim jacket, but just make sure the cardigan is loose enough around your arms to fit over the jacket. Who would have thought this summer’s must-have dress would translate so easily to fall? P.s. These layering tricks could also work with almost any summer dress, as long as the colors aren’t too bold.
